Fifteen countries, one mission: protect the Atlantic Ocean

In the framework of the Galway and Belém Statements, Leandro Nolé Eduardo, was nominated by the Atlantic Ocean Research Alliance as “all-Atlantic Ocean Youth Ambassador”. Leandro  participated to the first summer school for youth ambassadors (23 – 27 August 2019) in Galway, Ireland where he represented Brazil and the  recently launched TRIATLAS EU Project. .

The objective of the summer school was to  learn how to develop campaigns and reach-out towards local communities, students, civil society and decision makers, as well as working with media to conserve and protect the Atlantic Ocean for future generations. For this the program included:

-lectures involving world-renowned scientists, politicians, reporters, and young global award winners;

– teaching on how creating powerful awareness campaigns and influence the society through education and training;

– teaching on how creating and defending ideas and projects that may cause significant changes in ocean conservation;

– teaching on how using social medias to delivery our messages and how to deal with criticisms, avoiding being derailed by them.

Presently,  the 23 ambassadors have returned to their country with the mission of putting their project into practice. All successful projects will be presented in six months in Brussels, Belgium, where they will be evaluated and may receive funding to be expanded around the world.
