4th ABRACOS Meeting
April 9th-10th, 2018 – CEERMA Amphitheatre, UFPE, Recife, Brazil
The kick-off meeting of the new international joint laboratory Tropical Atlantic Interdisciplinary Laboratory on Physical, Biogeochemical, Ecological and Human Dynamics (IJL TAPIOCA) took place on April 9 and 10 2018 in Recife with the participation of the French, Brazilian partners and the rector of the UFPE. This IJL, co-constructed with the partners of the Federal (UFPE) and Federal Rural (UFRPE) Universities of Pernambuco and four French joint Units (MARBEC, LEGOS, LEMAR, LOCEAN), brings together sixty scientists and more than fifty students.
TAPIOCA aims at developing new disciplines in marine sciences in the Brazilian Northeast in order to carry out interdisciplinary research on the Tropical Atlantic. In addition, it will facilitate scientific exchanges between South America, Cuba, Africa and Europe. Ultimately, TAPIOCA ambitions to play a structuring role in the development of a centre of excellence in marine sciences in Recife. This kick-off meeting, which brought together more than 80 people, was linked to the 4th meeting of the ABRAÇOS project (Acoustic Along the Brazilian Coast).
