The Operational Oceanography Centre of the State of Pernambuco (NOPE/UFPE), in partnership with APAC and supported by FACEPE, is launching an innovative platform to monitor and forecast oceanic and meteorological conditions along the coast of Pernambuco and in the Tropical Atlantic.
Bringing together data from different models and a robust historical database, the tool enables the creation of short- and long-term scenarios for waves, winds, sea surface temperature and salinity, among other parameters. This information is essential for issuing alerts, planning actions, and supporting decisions by managers, researchers, and coastal communities.

In addition to enhancing knowledge of oceanic drivers and their links to extreme events, the system contributes to the mitigation of climate impacts, improving coastal and ocean management in Brazil. At a time of climate change and ocean warming, initiatives like this are crucial to protecting coastal populations, such as those in the Metropolitan Region of Recife.
