Santarém, PA – May 13–14, 2026 – The FEFACCION cooperation project (France-Brazil Action Team Fund on Climate Change and Its Impacts in the Amazon) held its closing event in the city of Santarém, Pará, bringing together researchers, students, and representatives of local communities. The initiative, coordinated by the French Embassy in Brazil, CIRAD, and IRD, aimed to strengthen adaptive capacity to climate change in the Amazon through environmental monitoring, natural resource management, and scientific exchange between the two countries.
BIOARP Results Presented at the Event
Researcher Xiomara Díaz from ISARH/Federal Rural University of the Amazon (UFRA) participated in the event, presenting the actions developed under the BIOARP I and II projects as part of “Theme 3 – Presentation of results from calls supporting FR-BR scientific initiatives in the Amazon.” Her talk highlighted the dialogue with extractivist communities along the Pará coast, scientific advances in marine sciences, and collaborative initiatives between Brazil and France focused on research in the Amazon Sea.

“The partnership with traditional communities was essential to understanding the impacts of climate change on coastal ecosystems and to building participatory monitoring strategies together,” the researcher emphasized during her presentation.
