The Terra-Mar project has just launched an educational book that invites the public to explore the connection between mangroves, oceans, and human activities. Developed under the International Joint Laboratory TAPIOCA (IRD), the publication translates ocean science concepts into simple, illustrated language, covering the functioning of Brazil’s coastal ecosystems, ecosystem services, threats such as pollution and climate change, and human actions that make a difference for these ecosystems.
The brochure also introduces fundamental notions such as the Anthropocene and social-ecological systems, helping readers understand the interactions between nature and society. Designed as a support tool for visitors to the physical and virtual Terra-Mar exhibition, the material will be available for free download on the project’s website and distributed in educational activities, exhibitions, and TAPIOCA events in Brazil and France.
