Granville, France – The travelling exhibition Terra Mar – From Mangroves to the Ocean Depths has found a new and lasting home. On 1 June 2026, it became the inaugural temporary exhibition at Au Cœur du Roc, the recently renovated museum-aquarium in Granville, Normandy. Having already traveled to cities such as Montpellier and Recife, the exhibition will now be on display for a full year, until 30 June 2027, marking the venue’s grand reopening after an extensive renovation.

The museum, rebranded as Au Cœur du Roc, reopens exactly 66 years after its original inauguration. The space has been completely reimagined as a meeting point between nature and art, featuring a new, expansive covered panoramic terrace offering spectacular views over the port of Granville and the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, as well as an external lift and a walkway over a pond with koi carp. The Terra Mar exhibition, developed by the International Joint Laboratory TAPIOCA (IRD) with the support of the French Embassy in Brazil, holds a prominent place in the museum’s new cultural programme. The exhibition offers an immersive experience connecting visitors to the marine ecosystems of the Tropical Atlantic, exploring biodiversity from mangroves to the ocean depths and the challenges of its preservation.

A living place where nature and art meet, inviting each visitor to a unique experience, according to their own sensibility.
Clément Yver and Elise Gérault – The museum’s new directors.
The programme includes a temporary exhibition area and a new, free-access café with a 65m² terrace, set to become a panoramic meeting point overlooking the bay. The interior spaces have been modernised to showcase the historical collection, including minerals, insects, and shells. A new area has also been created to house living corals and exotic fish, integrated into a renewed mediation programme featuring immersive activities, including an educational game for children, the “Keeper for a Day” experience, and the option to host birthday parties on site.
